No More Silence!

As a sexual assault survivor, I'm tired of being silenced and I won't allow that to happen anymore. It's time to share my story and scream loudly that I will not tolerate rape culture. Our country is in a terrifying place and this is my way of fighting to fix that.

Excerpt from Through the Gate of Wonder Ch. 10

Enheduanna sat in her private study with a soft clay tablet before her and a writing tool in her hand. Carefully she pressed the implement into the clay, creating the figures upon it to reflect the words swirling in her mind, demanding to be let out. The last few months had been maddening for her,... Naram-sin – God King of the Akkadian Empire

I have written a lot about Enheduanna and her life in my blog, but have written very little about her nephew, Naram-sin. He was considered to be one of the greatest kings in Sumerian history, and some would say his political and militaristic abilities even surpassed that of his grandfather, Sargon the Great. In the particular segment I listened to, he gave an in-depth history of the Assyrians, Medians, and the rise of the Persians in a preface to the famous battle of the Persians against the three hundred Spartan soldiers... Rant!

I don’t often go on tangents, at least not publicly, but today something has hit me really hard. I’m going to try to keep this organized so I don’t go chasing rabbits all over the place, but here goes. Our world feels like it’s on the brink of a revolution. With so much division, hatred,...
